Pupil Premium & Recovery Funding

Pupil Premium - an overview 

In April 2011 the Government introduced the Pupil Premium funding for the following groups of children:

1. Children who are looked after;

2. Children from low-income families who are eligible for Free School Meals;

3. Children who have been eligible for Free School Meals within the last six years;

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current inequalities between looked after children, children eligible for free school meals and their wealthier peers. The Pupil Premium ensures that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
